How to pay for electricity by meter: taking and calculating readings

PJSC Mosenergosbyt is the leading energy sales company in Moscow and the Moscow region. Mosenergosbyt provides electricity to the population, large industrial and socially significant facilities, transport and agricultural enterprises, while constantly connecting new consumers to electrical networks.

Unfortunately, not all electricity consumers in Moscow have meters installed with remote transmission of readings. Most of the readings are taken by inspectors and consumers themselves. To avoid incorrect payments for consumed electricity, Mosenergosbyt asks the population to submit meter readings on a monthly basis. For the convenience of the population, various options for entering monthly readings and payment methods have been developed. How to submit readings:

On the main page of the official website of Mosenergosbyt, in the same block with the company logo, there is a section “How to transmit readings?”

The information presented here is relevant for subscribers whose electricity meters are not connected to the remote reading system.

This section indicates that every month from the 15th to the 26th you can transmit meter readings in one of the following ways, namely:

  • Through the client’s personal account, where a simple form for taking electricity meter readings is filled out. This is the most convenient way to transfer readings directly to the Mosenergosbyt database, regardless of the day of the week or time of day.
  • On the public services portal of the city of Moscow. You must be registered on the specified resource. The portal provides the opportunity to transmit electricity meter readings, collect archived data and review previously transmitted readings, check the date and relevance of verification of electricity meters, find out the personal account balance and pay the debt.
  • Through the contact center by phone
  • By visiting Mosenergosbyt client offices in person. In this case, the readings are reported to the operator or personally using a special self-service terminal.
  • Using the interactive voice menu of the Mosenergosbyt contact center. After calling the specified number, listening to the greeting and the question “What do you want to know?”, you must say the key words “testimony” or “transmit testimony” and then follow the instructions of the automated system.
  • Through payment terminals (QIWI, Sberbank and others) or by visiting a multifunctional center (MFC).

The period for transmitting readings for consumers in Korolev is from the 15th to the 23rd of each month.

What methods of transmitting evidence are there?

You can submit your testimony in any way convenient for you:

  • through the Personal Account of a private client on the website of PJSC Mosenergosbyt;
  • by phone Contact: +7 (499) 550-9-550 via voice control service;
  • on the Moscow government services portal.
  • through terminals for receiving readings installed in the branches of PJSC Mosenergosbyt and Multifunctional centers for providing state and municipal services;
  • when paying through Qiwi and Sberbank terminals (subject to payment being made between the 15th and 26th).

Transfer readings through the terminals of PJSC Mosenergosbyt and MFC

Terminals have been installed in government centers and offices for the convenience of the population. You can enter electricity meter readings, find out tariffs, call an inspector or electrician to replace or repair the meter. There are about 150 self-service terminals installed throughout Moscow.

open from 8.00 to 20.00, including weekends, no lunch breaks or maintenance.

In the self-service terminal, you need to select your category: “Private clients” or “Legal entities”, and then follow the prompts.

How to use the Voice Control service?

When you contact the Contact Center by phone +7 (499) 550-9-550, you can independently, without waiting for an operator’s response, transfer meter readings or obtain the necessary information. To do this, in the voice menu after the question “Tell me what interests you?” you need to say your question.

You can read the instructions for operating the voice service on the website of PJSC Mosenergosbyt.

Attention!

The personal account number and meter readings must be given strictly in one digit. You can enter data using the telephone keys. To undergo automatic identification, we recommend linking your phone number to your Personal Account in the Client’s Personal Account.

In order to always have electricity in your home, you need to make monthly payments on your electricity bills. Thanks to the development of modern technologies, there is no longer a need to transmit meter readings by telephone or contact a senior person in the house. Now you can undergo this procedure in Moscow online.

How are electricity bills calculated?

The amount payable is calculated in one of the following ways:

  • Based on the meter readings you provided; Provided that the meter readings were transmitted in the period from the 15th to the 26th inclusive
  • Based on meter readings taken by employees of Mosenergosbyt PJSC; Control readings are taken by an employee of Mosenergosbyt PJSC 2 times a year.
  • If there are no readings in the billing period, the amount payable is calculated based on the average monthly consumption volume;
  • In the absence of information on the average monthly consumption volume, the calculation is made based on the consumption standard.

Equipment with automatic data transmission

Manufacturers began to create developments that provide for the automatic transmission of information through a special channel. Installing and configuring such equipment will require more time and effort. But after completing all the stages, you won’t have to worry about tracking how much electricity has been “burned” every month and informing the customer service about this. Everything is done automatically.

What is ODN and how is it calculated?

ODN - general house needs. Each apartment building receives a certain amount of utility resources, the bulk of which is consumed by residents. Some of the resources go to maintaining the house and maintaining common property. Not only utilities inside the apartment are paid, but also utilities used for general house needs.

The amount of one tax charge for electricity may include costs for:

  • Lighting of common areas (staircases, vestibules and entrance areas);
  • Energy consumed by intercoms;
  • Energy consumed by elevators;
  • Energy consumed by other electrical equipment; Used for general house needs (for example, surveillance cameras, pumps pumping water to the upper floors, automatic heat control system, etc.).

Each apartment building has an individual set of electrical equipment. Calculation of the consumed electricity at the ODN is carried out in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 354 dated May 6, 2011, P.44:

  • Based on the readings of collective metering devices; The expense for one-room registration is determined as the difference between the expense of a certain collective metering device and the total consumption of residential and non-residential premises, then divided by the total area of such premises, and then multiplied by the individual area of each of them.
  • In the absence of a common house meter, the calculation is made according to the standard. If the electricity consumption for ODN is determined based on the ODN standard, then the value obtained by multiplying the standard by ODN and the area of the premises included in the common property in an apartment building is divided by the total area of the premises, and then multiplied by the individual area of each of them .

Three-phase devices

To understand how to use such devices, you should first learn about the principle of their operation. For example, they can be old-style (equipped with transformers) or electronic (direct connection). The latter are easy to use: all information is visible on the display and can be read in the same way as with standard single-phase ones. In outdated equipment, the phases are connected through transformers. For correct calculations, transformation coefficients will be needed.

Consumption is calculated using the formula: kWh x k (where k is the transformation ratio). Calculations are made in the order specified in the contract with the supplier. Sometimes the company indicates the coefficients in the document. In some cases, suppliers make the calculations themselves, and subscribers can only be informed about the actual costs.

Thus, if a 3-phase device is installed, it is worth clarifying in advance in what order and form to calculate the final number. This can be discussed with your electrician during installation.

The accuracy of the accruals depends on how correctly the information is transcribed and transmitted. At the same time, subscribers will be able to avoid overpaying for the resources they receive from the supplier. It is worth reporting energy expenditure in a timely manner.

Why does the electricity consumption for the single-circuit heating unit change monthly and how can we achieve a reduction in the amount for the single-unit heating unit?

The amount of electricity consumption for one unit is calculated and depends on several factors and may change every month.

The cost of ODN depends on factors such as:

  • Intensity of operation of electrical equipment installed on the ODN;
  • Regularity of transmission by residents of the house of individual readings of metering devices to PJSC Mosenergosbyt (if the readings are not transmitted, then the calculation is formed based on the calculated average monthly volume of consumption, and when transmitting or taking readings in the subsequent billing period, the volume of consumption will be recalculated based on actual data);
  • Absence of unaccounted and/or non-contractual consumption;
  • Technical condition of intra-house wiring (electrical wiring in old houses may be worn out and this increases technological losses of electricity in intra-house networks);
  • Equipping residential premises with working metering devices.

Retrieving information and calculations for different models

Although the operating principle of modern IPUs is almost identical, depending on the variety there may be some differences:

  1. "Mercury 200". The “Enter” button is pressed, after which the time, date, readings by zone and total flow appear. The letter designation of the tariff is in the upper left corner. According to the described calculation example for a specific territory, the total payment amount is calculated.
  2. "Energymera". The most common are two- and multi-tariff modifications. Readings from this meter are taken according to a scheme similar to the previous option. The main difference is that you need to press the "PRSM" button.
  3. "Micron". It is not difficult to take readings from such a meter, provided that certain nuances are observed. At the bottom left side of the case there is a button, when pressed, the necessary information is displayed. A special feature of the device is that the designations of tariff zones T1, T2 or T3 do not appear; they are already signed at the bottom of the screen and highlighted with a tick. The payment amount is calculated according to the standard scheme.
  4. Saivan. The most economical option that is popular. It differs from others in the absence of a button that highlights specific values and shows data sequentially with a small interval. The necessary parameters are recorded and checked, for which it is necessary to let the counter go around in a circle. The calculation depends on the modification of the electricity meter and the current tariff.

Advice! To eliminate errors when taking readings, you must first familiarize yourself with the product data sheet, which contains the correct algorithm of actions.

When choosing an electric meter, it is advisable to give preference to domestic models or meters manufactured in the CIS, since imported options may not be adapted to our networks

Induction meters: what are their features

Induction meters are already a thing of the past, although in some places they still remain. They are simple and reliable. They are easy to distinguish from other types of counters because they have a wheel that rotates when the counter is running.

Old style counter

How many numbers to write off

There are models with different numbers of digits: usually from 4 to 7. In many models, the last one or two digits are highlighted. This may be a regular comma, these numbers may have a different color (usually red) or different sizes. The last figures show tenths or hundredths of kilowatt/hours, therefore, when recording and transmitting to the appropriate services, they are not taken into account, since accounting is carried out in whole kilowatts.

Induction counter

It should be remembered that there are models in which the last one or two digits are not highlighted. In this case, you will have to write down all the numbers, since the design of the meter does not allow tenths or hundredths of the energy consumed to be taken into account. You need to be careful so that you don’t have to pay a huge difference.

If you are not sure that you will be able to take readings correctly, it is better to invite an inspector to your home so that he can explain and clarify which numbers should be recorded and which should not. Alternatively, you can contact the electrician who services this area and get all the information you need from him. This can even be done over the phone.

Reading process

After the meter is installed, the owner is given a certificate indicating the initial digits of the meter. By the way, they are obliged to explain how readings are taken correctly and which numbers are important and which ones should not be paid attention to. As a rule, all zeros that precede the first digit are also not written down.

Sample reading

To calculate how many kilowatt/hours of electricity were consumed, you need to know the readings for the previous month. If the meter has just been installed, the first numbers can be taken from the installation report, and subsequently the data can be taken from receipts, which are best stored in a convenient place so that you don’t have to look for them for a long time.

Nowadays, almost all subscriber services calculate the amount of energy consumed by consumers independently; it is enough to transfer the data to them. As a rule, data transfer occurs at the end of the month (on the last days). The deadlines for submitting information are set by the subscriber organization. Basically, invoices, in the form of receipts, are processed by computers, based on special computer programs. There are times when even computers make mistakes. Therefore, it is better to monitor how much electricity is consumed monthly. If this is not done in a timely manner, the error can grow into a significant amount, and companies supplying electricity pay off their debts with difficulty.

How to make calculations

To calculate how many kilowatt/hours were consumed during the current accounting period, it is enough to subtract the previous ones from the last readings. The result will be some kind of figure that will reflect the real amount of electricity.

Let's say that the last readings are 6102, and the previous ones correspond to the figure 5842, then 5842 must be subtracted from 6102 and the figure will be 250. Calculations show that 250 kilowatt-hours of electricity were consumed during the current accounting period. To find out how much you will have to pay, just multiply the number 250 by the tariff and you get the amount.

Counters that work for a long time sooner or later reset and mislead the owners. Many people believe that the electric meter has deteriorated, but this is not at all true.

Simply, when rewriting the meter readings, there is a unit in front of all the numbers, even if they are zeros. For example, before this the counter showed the numbers “9988”, and after a while, for example, “0022”. If these readings need to be transferred to the accounting company, you will have to write down “10022”. You will only have to set the unit once, and subsequently you will have to take readings as usual.
