PUE (Electrical Installation Rules): edition 6 and 7, description, history, download PUE

Which editions of the PUE are valid?

Sometimes, it seems to me that the publishers of the PUE deliberately confused everything by releasing edition 7 of the PUE, while partially leaving the effect of edition 6, practically without mentioning it anywhere.

The history of the PUE is as follows . There was a sixth edition of the PUE, released in October 1979, and covering electrical installations up to 500 kV.

Over time, plans for reconstruction and transition to a 750 kV overhead line appeared, as well as a desire to bring safety standards closer to global ones, a new edition of the PUE, edition 7, 2000, appeared.

In PUE 7, the safety sections were “combed” in accordance with the IEC, changed 500 kV to 750 kV, and edited other related sections.

At the same time, they did not include chapters 7.3, 7.4 and 7.7 in edition 7, saying that they were valid in the 6th edition. Moreover, in ed. They completely forgot about chapters 7.8 and 7.9.

In the end, it turned out that edition 6 and at the same time edition 7 are partially in effect. Therefore, in separate articles we have to refer to the PUE ed. 6, and in other articles, refer to PUE ed. 7.
