Description

An electromagnetic starter or PML is a device that combines various types of switching mechanisms necessary to start, reverse and stop a particular motor. In turn, switching devices include various types of relays, push-button stations, switches, contactors, etc.

The design of the device is quite simple. An armature and a core are installed in a plastic case. There is a special pulling coil located on the heart. The starter circuit looks like this: traverse guides are installed in the upper part of the device, and an anchor is mounted above them. Also, special bridges with springs for blocking contacts are mounted near the anchor.

The operating principle is as follows. When electric current is applied, voltage begins to collect in the coil. As a result, the magnetic armature is attracted to it, closing the open contact and opening the closed one. A magnetic starter of the PML type turns off when the contacts open; to control this process, springs fix the moving parts of the system, and when turned on, return them to their original position.

Depending on the size of the starter, it can be installed on so-called attachments - PKL or RTL. PKL series consoles have the following parameters:

  • 4 — IP40 (no buttons);
  • 5 - IP40 (with buttons);
  • 6 - IP20.

Also, classification and marking is carried out based on the presence or absence of a thermal relay:

  • 2 – irreversible, with thermal relay;
  • 3 – reversible, without relay;
  • 4 – reversible model with relay;
  • 5 - reversing starter with mechanical and electrical interlocks, without thermal relay;
  • 6 – reversible, with mechanical and electrical contact interlocks, there is a thermal relay;
  • 7 - the starter is represented by star and delta circuits.

Starters of the PML 1220 series are a component product used in control circuits of electric drives and stationary electrical equipment, intended for frequent remote switching on and off of power electrical equipment. circuits in normal operating mode, as well as for remote starts, stops and reversals of 3-phase electric asynchronous motors that have a short-circuit electric rotor winding in an alternating current network (~) at a frequency (f) of 50-60 Hertz and an operating voltage (U) of up to 660V .

When voltage is applied to the electric coil, the armature is attracted to the coil. In this case, normally open electrical contacts close, and normally closed electrical contacts open. The PML magnetic contactor is switched off when the normally open electrical contacts are opened and the normally closed ones are closed. To do this, return springs move the moving parts of the starter to their original position.

This contactor model can also be manufactured in a housing - with a built-in thermal relay and signal lamp. The built-in thermal relay in the PML 1220 starter performs the function of protecting against motor overload during operation and against current strength exceeding the permissible norm.

This type differs in the following parameters:

— number of block contacts, making and breaking; — the value of the rated current.

PME is a special type of magnetic starter; it is very similar to the classic PML, but has a slightly different purpose. It is used together with an attachment for remote control of stationary electrical appliances. For example, for machine tools with three-phase motors. Installation is carried out vertically using screw clamps. The maximum permissible deviation is 15 degrees. PML 1501 – reversing starter without heat-resistant relay, current 10A. Device 1501 is used to start a squirrel-cage engine at a distance. It is assembled from two contactors - one makes it rotate in one direction, and the second in the opposite direction. PML 1501 without a thermal relay, therefore does not protect the device from heavy loads or currents that occur when one phase fails.
